The Sun feels like an apropos celebration of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He shone the fullest expression of his light, a birthright he saw for everyone ☀️ "Moving with a sense of cosmic urgency toward the promised land of racial justice," he devoted his life to Black liberation, leading tireless efforts of nonviolent direct action and civil disobedience. Along with his wife, who was instrumental in observing today's federal holiday, and so many powerful voices! ✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼 Hearing him speak at the March on Washington in 1963 profoundly lived on in my father's heart from that tumultuous era of radical activism 🤎 And here we are, yet another generation reckoning with white supremacy and systemic racism 💔 I want to believe we can still imagine and create the Beloved Community of Dr. King's dreams 👑 The next generation, 2050's society, is just thirty years away. What consistent action can you take to support our young, multiracial democracy? How can you honor Dr. King's legacy by engaging in solidarity with vulnerable people every day? Now is the time ✨
